Roman Reigns Overused In WWE
Okay, you guys had to have known he was gonna pop up on this list somewhere.
Roman was signed to the developmental branch of WWE in 2010 and moved his way up thru the ranks, eventually getting to NXT and finally arriving at the 2012 Survivor Series pay-per-view.
Starting out as a Heel, Reigns would eventually team up with fellow NXT alumni, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins who would go on to be known as ‘The Shield’ AKA The Hounds of Justice.
The Shield would hold its own in the ranks of the WWE, but, in June of 2014, all three went their separate ways…Kind of.
What I mean by that is in some form or fashion there would be at least 2 out of 3 members together, IE Reigns and Rollins as a tag team, Rollins and Ambrose, Ambrose and Reigns, etc.
There was a teased reunion for the TLC pay-per-view in October of 2017, but, Reigns was reported to be ill and Kurt Angle took his place.
In November at the Survivor Series pay-per-view they DID get back together and fought The New Day, and were victorious in that match. They would also reunite the next night on RAW.
As rumors have it, there was supposed to be a more involved storyline with #TheShield, but, as we all know in December of that year, Ambrose suffered a major injury that took him out of action.
Roman Reigns Face Of WWE
If it had just been Reigns hunting down Lesnar, that would have been fine, an old school rivalry with the hunter and prey angle, BUT, Lesnar barely works, so…
It would seem that the WWE creative can’t really find a good match for Reigns to battle. He has gone from feud to feud and not one has really stuck.
It was Reigns vs Lesnar, then vs. Samoa Joe, then Jinder Mahal, and now it might be back to Samoa Joe – They can’t make up their minds!
This is of NO FAULT of Roman Reigns, no one can blame him for WWE trying to make him their new face, but, it seems that time after time, something comes up that stops them.
They couldn’t have The Shield reunion in November, he can’t fight Lesnar if Lesnar isn’t there, they can’t figure out what they want to do with Mahal and that also falls on Reigns, etc…etc..
Long story short (too late) if WWE could make up their minds as far as what they want to do with Reigns, if they want him to be a Heel or Babyface, if they want him to be the Universal Champion…
Once they answer these questions, then #RomanReigns might have a fighting chance.
