As I see it, WWE has done a great job over the last decade abolishing the values of its championship titles. Can anyone forget the look on the face of that little girl in the crowd when The Miz cashed in his MITB contract to win the WWE Title? Even her childish mind couldn’t swallow it. And what did the WWE do to make the US Title relevant?
They gave to John Cena, just to let him declare an open challenge for the title on weekly basis. That’s not the move should the US Title was in itself meaningful.
Part of the dilemma – as I see it – resides in WWE’s insistence not to call it Profissional Wrestling, and to use the term Sports Entertainment instead. Being just for entertainment; there is no need to put the belt around the waist of the most deserving, but those who would make the show more entertaining!!
Jeff Hardy – who’s just back from several months of injury and a shoulder operation – is holding the US CHAMPIONSHIP, another period. With all due respect to the talent, effort and history of the aforementioned names, is it logic for three of the eight championships to be questionable?!
