Obviously it is still a mystery what the outcome of the Elimination Chamber will be. Many believe that the outcome had already been determined a year ago, that Roman Reigns would be headed to yet another WrestleMania main event. However a lot had changed over the past year, including how over certain superstars have become.
I could not stand Elias [Sampson] when he first wandered into the WWE. I just didn’t understand what his gimmick was supposed to be. But slowly over time, not only have his weekly songs become a household favourite, his in-ring work has been so much fun to watch.
His clever use of turning ‘WWE’ into the catch phrase of “Walk with Elias” is one of the biggest mark out moments I’ve had in a while once I realized what he was doing. And now, with a huge win on Monday Night Raw this past week, Elias will be the final entrant in this year’s Elimination Chamber match to determine the number one contender for the Universal Championship.
If you’re mind is set on Reigns and Lesnar facing off at Mania, I would like for you to extend your belief, if at least for just the remainder of your reading of this article. Where we were last year when rumours of this main event started supposedly leaking, the WWE was a whole different landscape.
Guys like Braun Strowman and Elias were barely on the map. And seeing the recent reception of Elias, I think WrestleMania plans could be changing.
WWE has been seriously pushing Elias over the past few months, and although fans chant in unison “Who wants to walk with Elias?”, he still plays the heel character so perfectly. Not only is he a fantastic worker, he’s great on the mic and has the perfect WWE superstar look. I fully believe that the fact they’re putting Elias in such a spotlight like they did on Raw this week, could spell much deserved success in his future.
Imagine for a second if Elias wins the Elimination Chamber, how intriguing a match-up between him and Brock Lesnar would be. Imagine how incredible of a WrestleMania moment it would be for Elias to go over in the main event of the grandest stage of them all. Imagine how badass Elias’s character would become if he was the Universal Champion.
Now I may be getting too hopeful here, it is Vince McMahon we’re talking about at the end of the day. Regardless of what happens inside the Chamber, I fully believe the future is bright for Elias. So I suggest you hop on the bandwagon now, because soon we may not be walking with Elias, we will be running with him!
